Sarri unimpressed with his side's performance in Man Utd draw

Maurizio Sarri has angrily accused his own players of being a long-ball team.

He even said they went against his instructions and panicked into playing 'long ball' tactics in their dramatic draw with Manchester United.

Sarri's men briefly went to the top of the Premier League table after Ross Barkley's injury-time goal rescued a 2-2 draw.

But Italian coach Sarri thinks it could and should have been a win after his men dominated the game for long periods.

He said: 'I am really disappointed in this type of performance.

'Getting to two-all in the last minute is ok for the confidence of my players, but I have to look at something else. I have seen the match on the bench, and now want to study the second half of the match.

'They have to play in my character. We are not organised like this to play the long ball. I don't want the long ball, I don't want the second ball. I want to play with short passes – stop!'

It is the first time as Chelsea boss Sarri has seemed angry with his players although they remain undefeated since he replaced Antonio Conte for the start of this season.

He added: 'I always want to play for three points.

'For 60 minutes we played our football. Then, after they came back to one-all, we didn't play our football, only the long ball. We are not organised [to challenge] for [the] second ball.

'In this type of football, United is better than us.'
