Saudi Media: Ronaldo's goal attribution to be decided by referee committee

According to Saudi media outlet Arriyadiyah, a source with knowledge of Saudi Pro League matters stated that the final authority for attributing goals in matches rests with the Saudi Football Federation's Referees Committee, and the league does not rely on statistics from international data platforms like Opta.

The source told Arriyadiyah that the referee's match report is the correct basis for attribution. If there is any discrepancy with the referee's report, an application for review will be submitted to the Referees Committee for a final decision.

Previously, Arriyadiyah, citing informed sources, reported that referee Abdullah Al-Owaidan credited Al Nassr FC's second goal against Al-Fayha to Portuguese player Ronaldo in the official match report, bringing Ronaldo's career tally across club and international football to 982 official goals.

The goal sparked widespread debate on social media, with some fans arguing it should have been ruled an own goal after Al-Fayha defender André Girotto, a Brazilian, made contact with the ball.
