Scholes: Man City's win over Arsenal is a victory for football

On March 23, in the League Cup final, Manchester City defeated their strong title rival Arsenal 2-0, winning their first championship trophy of the season. 

In the "The Good, The Bad & The Football" podcast, Manchester United legend Scholes commented on the match and the performances of the two teams.

This season, Scholes has repeatedly criticized Arsenal's tactics, saying that Arteta is overly "obsessed" with set-piece tactics and ignores other aspects of the game, and that the team lacks the "aura" of a traditional champion.

Regarding the result of the League Cup final, Scholes admitted that he was happy to see Manchester City win: "I'm glad Manchester City won, because it's a victory for football. Comparing the styles of the two teams, you certainly want the team that plays more beautifully to win, no matter who it is."

"The only way Arsenal could have won was by scoring an early goal and then parking the bus and defending desperately. That would have been very boring and would have been one of the ugliest games ever."

"They don't have that strength, and the players lack the ability to shine. To put it bluntly, they are a team of workers, with no highlights at all. I have to say they will miss Ødegaard and Eze, who might be able to bring something to the Gunners, but even if they could play, the team hasn't played any smooth offense."
