Manchester United legend Paul Scholes insists that Jose Mourinho deliberately got himself sacked by the club.
Mourinho was finally axed by United last month after a dreadful start to the season and walked away with £15million in compensation.
Scholes was Mourinho's fiercest critic throughout his two-and-a-half year reign with the pair often verbally jousting in public.
And Scholes' opinion of the manager hasn't changed after he was asked about him by Norwegian TV station TV2.
'I felt he (Mourinho) didn't want to be there,' he said. He engineered his move away perfectly in the end.
'His press conferences were embarrassing, so negative, it was obvious in the end the players didn't want to play for him. The right thing happened in the end.'
The former United midfielder said he suspected that Mourinho might be trying to find a way out of Old Trafford when he fell out who club captain Antonio Valencia, who Scholes played alongside from 2009 to 2013.
Scholes said: 'He fell out with Antonio Valencia who is the nicest man in the world. It’s impossible to fall out with Antonio Valencia.
'That was a big sign for me that something wasn’t quite right.'
And Scholes also defending his often scathing analysis of Mourinho and his tactics, particularly in the final few months of hi reign.
'I was just being honest about the questions put to me and what I was seeing from the manager,' he said.
He started complaining very early on in pre-season, saying the kids weren’t good enough, which I didn’t like from the start.'

😄😄😄😄😄 Morinho ghost still haunts you ! The guy is professional to the core ! Players don’t want to play for him but they still collect their pays every week ? Who is gullible ? Mourinho or you ? He does not talk about you again so stop talking about him and focus on your job . Up ManU !

Scholes is right - some managers get themselves sacked to get out or get a pay off if they think the grass is greener elsewhere. They play ridiculous formations - drop good players - play others out of position - play negatively - create arguments with players for no reason.

I believe on Scholar anyway, the Portuguese boss had his mind made up soon after some time he noticed he couldn't bring ManU to the level of Sir Ferguson. He had to leave with a balanced wallet and that's it. that's my feeling traced back from the managers history recent years. He made his packets anyway!

Yes I agree with Scholes 1. His tactics were out of date and not the United way....I'm pretty sure Mourinho himself knew that 2. He was falling out with too many talented players like Pogba and Martial which demoralised the whole team Now what Solskjaer has brought is the answer to these 2 problems, he has brought back the attacking culture of United and he has been all smiles in the dressing room, on the pitch and off the pitch and even brought the players for a training camp to get them to bond together Hopefully the spirits will still be high and United can win the FA Cup #GGMU 🔥🔥🔥

I thought this was already accepted by most people. Then, of course, there is his traditional 3rd season implosion. Why any club would take him on knowing this is beyond belief. Then again, that¿s football!

Mourinho is really the special one, even after his departure people still talks about him on daily basics. Mourinho won three trophies in his first season which Ferguson never won. The ghost of Mourinho is still hurting you people. one thing is certain Mourinho is coming back to hurt Manchester united. like what he did to Chelsea.

Scholes is just a kid whose talk a lot, Jose is gone, all i expect from him now is to speak of Man U. reaching the top 4 tobl play in champions leaque next season, which is most important, at least Jose did well to win trophies with Man U. likewise he play in champions leaque through out doing his time at Man U. his name is already written in Man U. history book, he's enjoying his life with his family. This is the game of football, you're bot always going to be a winner.

This is the first time I agree with scholes. Normally I would reject whatever he say but this article I can agree 100%. Is true that it was Mourinho fault that he kept changing the formations and keep playing defensive. But if u think again, I think this is how Mourinho makes ez money just make the scores terrible. It makes fans and staff of manu and the players feel discouraged while Mourinho just get free money just liddat. Every1 who want sign mou sign for 1 season oni then kick him out so ur money wouldn't get wasted

I believe that Jose Mourino wanted to leave because his mind is no longer with United and he needed the 15million pay off. If he walked away, he would forfeit the money, he decided to Engineer his sack, so that he can get paid with the 15million. I think he achieved his target lol.
