See Barca’s latest special El Clasico kit as Coldplay collaboration is confirmed

Since Barcelona signed their shirt sponsorship agreement with Spotify, they have worn specialised shirts for their clashes with Real Madrid. The Blaugrana generally replace their logo with that of a particular artist, and this Clasico will see Coldplay’s name on their kit.

The news had been revealed several weeks ago, and on Thursday Barcelona made the official announcement, putting the unique strips on sale nine days before their trip to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Coldplay are promoting their new album ‘Moon Music’, featuring the likes of Burna Boy and Little Simz. The women’s team will wear the kit against Eibar the following weekend.

Barcelona are putting just 1,899 shirts on sale (the year the club was founded is 1899), and the limited edition replicas are expected to be more expensive than the usual home kit. Coldplay follow from Drake, Rosalia, Karol G and the Rolling Stones, but do have a link to Barcelona, like Rosalia. During Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning season in 2009, their matchday anthem became Viva la Vida by Coldplay.
