Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has a £65million release clause which becomes active in January and multiple Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on his situation
Antoine Semenyo has previously hinted that he'd like to play for Arsenal, as the frenzy over his future at Bournemouth intensifies. Semenyo, 25, will be allowed to leave for £65million in the January transfer window after it emerged that the new contract which he signed just four months ago contains a release clause.
Bournemouth won't be able to stand in the forward's way if a club actives his clause within the first two weeks of January and he wants to leave. Semenyo has been one of the league's standout players so far this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 12 games.
The London-born Ghana international has been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. United boss Ruben Amorim reportedly met Semenyo at the end of last season before he turned down a move to Old Trafford and signed his new deal.
Perhaps the former Bristol City star is holding out for a move to Emirates, having revealed to the Athletic last year: "I am an Arsenal fan. I don't conflict the two with my job.
"It is great to play against Arsenal, a team I have watched all my life and I want to play for the top clubs as well. In order for that to happen, I need to prove it."
Semenyo added: "Any team that plays Champions League, Europa (League) - that's the aim. I know that's not going to come with a click of my fingers, it's going to take some time.
"It's going to take goals. It's going to take a lot of consistent performances. But I've worked all my life for that and I'm just going to continue working hard. That's my mentality."
Which club should sign Antoine Semenyo? Let us know your pick in the comments section.
Bournemouth's general manager, Tim Bezbatchenko, recently admitted that he'd find it difficult to stop Semenyo from joining an elite club. "When a club like Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG come in and they're competing for Champions League positions, who are we to say, 'No, you can't go, you can't fulfil your dream'," Bezbatchenko told the Business of Sport podcast.
"No it wouldn't be like that for all clubs because not everyone is Real Madrid. But there is an opportunity and everybody wins right? I think that's what we're trying to find, this commonality where everybody can win."
Arsenal haven't been strongly linked with Semenyo at this stage and the Gunners invested in their attack over the summer. But as the attacker says, with more goals and consistent performances, Mikel Arteta's side might come knocking.

That would be a tremendous get .... off load Martinelli over the summer, maybe Odegaard, maybe Jesus, maybe Trossard, Havertz ..... to bring him in. I'm just saying
this is the dumbest take I have seen. martinelli who our best player on the counter, odegaard our conductor in the midfield, trossard who's been impressing really well this season, harvest who has been disrespected enough and unless you don't watch arsenal play, you know how vital he is, even a fit Gabriel Jesus is a huge asset but he's the only one I would stop selling. and you want to sell them to bring in someone that's not guaranteed to hit the ground running with our system of play. I'm even surprised people liked it.
