Former Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam Mido has accused Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos of 'intentionally' injuring Liverpool star Mohamed Salah on Saturday night.
Salah was unable to complete the first half of the Champions League final, which Liverpool went on to lose 3-1 following his departure.
A shoulder problem forced Salah into a premature exit after he tangled with Ramos who then landed on top of the Reds star while their arms were linked.
Salah was seen as Liverpool's chief threat having scored a remarkable 44 goals for them this season. And Mido has suggested that Ramos deliberately put the 25-year-old out of the game.
Tweeting in Arabic, Mido — who played for Tottenham, West Ham, Middlesbrough and Wigan during his playing career — wrote: 'Anyone that understands football would know that Ramos injured Salah intentionally.'
He added: 'Any player in the world would’ve released his arm but Ramos held onto his arm and spun with it.'
But Frank Lampard does not believe Ramos intended to crock Salah.
Asked whether it was fair to attribute any blame to Ramos, BT Sport pundit Lampard said: 'No, I don't think so.
'He's got close, like any defender should do and sometimes when you get that contact you do interlink arms and it's more unfortunate in the end, the way he fell.'
Ramos himself took to Twitter in the early hours of Sunday morning to wish Salah a speedy recovery.
'Sometimes football shows you its good side and others the bad,' wrote Ramos.
'Above all we are fellow pros. Get well soon, Salah. The future awaits you.'
As well as damaging Liverpool's hopes of European glory, Salah's injury comes as a major blow to Egypt ahead of the World Cup.
It is not yet clear whether the former Chelsea and Roma winger will be able to take part in Egypt's campaign in Russia, where they will compete in Group A alongside Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and the tournament hosts.

people argue that Salah was the one started it but he didn't pull Sergio down. it was very clear that Salah was going to win the because he let Ranos's hand but Ramos took a chance to break Salah arm; he pull away from the ball that they were fighting for, pinned Salah's army and put it under his body like it was Chris Jerrico and Shaun Michaels.

Yeah you are perfectly right Mido. That is the game plan they ( Real Madrid) adopted on this year CL. Teams have not noticed, they did similar thing to one Bayern Munich ( Reuben) too .; hence they lost the match .they make sure those prayers who could create problems are out quickly early or before the end of first half .so that they have their own way. Is so bad for a team like Madrid defenders start adopting this kind of Mafia tactics in the champions league & getting away freely; No red cards shown, nothing is done to them. How on this earth will a player hand dislocated for the referee and linesmen to tell us they did not see Not fair ? and Ramos got away . freely . This is not fair play game fifa introduced .FIFA should, must check this kind wrestling defending as matter of urgency; otherwise other teams may also start doing similar in next Champions leagues ; if punishment are not meted to culprits, and the referees as well.
