Sport (Spain) published an article analyzing the current situation of Serie A teams in the Champions League.
Roma lost 3-4 to Real Madrid at home in the Stadio Olimpico. In the 82nd minute, Roma was still leading 3-2, but Real Madrid then scored three consecutive goals from set pieces, completing a dramatic comeback.
Real Madrid's overall performance in the first 80 minutes was uninspired, as the team struggled to build coherent and stable attacks. It wasn't until Carreras, Arda Güler, Bernardo, Espi and Endrick came off the bench that Real Madrid regained their intensity, transitioning from a passive and desperate state to ultimately securing a match they were close to losing. Mourinho's substitutions were effective, while Gasperini's adjustments failed to alter the course of the game. Real Madrid completed the comeback through emotional intensity and a late surge, with the final score masking the team's lack of cohesion during the first 80 minutes. Notably, Vinícius Jr.'s performance was not more convincing than substitutes Endrick or Espi; he should have been replaced earlier.
Internazionale also lost 3-4 to Club Brugge, Como suffered a 2-3 defeat away to Feyenoord, and Napoli lost 1-3 to Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica. The four Serie A teams conceded 14 goals in one round of matches, which is uncommon in the traditional context of Italian football.
In contrast to the collective defeat of Italian teams, all Spanish teams won. Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, Real Betis, Real Madrid, and Villarreal each defeated their opponents. This marks the first time in European competition history that all Spanish teams have won in the same round.
Among them, Betis completed a comeback against Porto, providing a highlight for LaLiga teams' European performances. In a focal match, Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain defeated Manchester City 4-2 away, thanks to an excellent first-half display.
From this round of matches, it appears difficult for Italian teams to solve their problems by relying solely on traditional defensive discipline and match experience. At least in the second round of the Champions League, the performance of the four Serie A teams indicates that Italian football, once renowned for its solid defense and tactical maturity, is no longer what it once was.

football has changed alot and the rules favours attack minded teams now.. even with defence discipline , a team must defend from the front by pressing, marking , smooth tackling not just waiting and blocking ...football is fast pace now with composure... that's why italy 🇮🇹 itself can't catch up and Spain smooth sailing..slow at back , quick in the front ..women football, under 20, under 16 , .. all barca finger prints
