Sesko makes honest admission about his Man United start: "The level is higher"

Man Utd striker Benjamin Sesko reflected on his start at Old Trafford while speaking on international duty with Slovenia.

Benjamin Sesko has admitted the level in the Premier League is "higher."

United signed Sesko from RB Leipzig for €76.5million (£66.4m), with €8.5m (£7.3m) in add-ons.

Newcastle pushed hard to sign Sesko and had Champions League football to offer, but the young striker preferred a move to Old Trafford this summer and signed a five-year contract.

Sesko made his debut from the bench against Arsenal and made a further two substitute appearances against Fulham and Burnley. Sesko received his first start against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.

The 22-year-old has not scored since signing from RB Leipzig, but he is still getting up to speed after missing time in pre-season.

Sesko has reported for international duty with Slovenia and he spoke to local press about his start at United.

“The level of the matches is certainly much higher, the players and teammates are also at a higher level. After all, English football is at the highest level in the world of football,” Sesko told Ekipa.

“But I am very much looking forward to the coming period, also because I am getting better and faster in every training session, and I am also progressing in my football mentality every day.

"I wanted to move to England and, fortunately, my wish came true.”

Sesko spoke about the Manchester derby, adding: “It’s true, it’s an incredibly big match coming up. There will simply be some pressure on both sides to just win this match. There’s still quite a bit to go until this match, but we’re definitely looking forward to a top-notch match.”

Speaking after the win over Burnley, Amorim explained his decision not to bring Sesko on earlier against Scott Parker's side.

"So he finished the [Grimsby] game with cramps, really in the limit. That's why we protected Ben from the penalties," explained Amorim

"And today was that reason also, because (Joshua) Zirkzee is also a striker, he's an international striker. But I was thinking that Ben, during the pre-season, he didn't do 90 minutes.

"And he did that, even against a division four team, he did that on Wednesday. And with the problem of Cunha, you don't know if that full game in the middle of the week has something to do with the injury today.

"With the problem with Mason Mount (injury), I was not risking another player, not knowing if they are able to play so many minutes. So everything was connected. The penalty, the game on Wednesday, and the number of minutes that I was thinking to put Ben today."
