Luke Shaw has denied supporting calls for two of his Manchester United teammates to be omitted from the starting XI.
Erik ten Hag's side grabbed a much-needed win against Chelsea in midweek, having made changes to their frontline after a dismal performance against Newcastle last weekend.
During the coverage, former Red Devil Patrice Evra said on Amazon Prime Sport: 'I think it will be tough for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to come back into the starting eleven.'
On Thursday, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Shaw had liked a social media post containing Evra's quote, which led to rampant speculation he endorsed the message.
However, the England international has moved to distance himself from the comments and responded to a now-deleted post from a United fan account.
‘Come on don’t be silly, obviously not intentional,' the 28-year-old wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Whatever the explanation, it's difficult to argue with Evra's assessment considering the contributions of Rashford and Martial this season.
Martial has become accustomed to starting games on the bench following the summer arrival of Rasmus Hojlund and will likely soon depart the club, but Rashford's decline this term has been stark.
The 26-year-old has managed just two goals in 19 appearances, having notched 30 in the previous campaign.
Rashford now faces a battle with the inconsistent Antony for a place in Ten Hag's starting roster with Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho establishing themselves as fixtures in the squad.
United welcome a resurgent Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Saturday before a decisive clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.

That Brilliant Performance by United against Chelsea should stand as the inspiration for everyone in the Dressing room. More especially for Anthony Martial and Rashford. Ten Hag should use the pre match video clip to teach Martial, Rashford and Co that football is all about working hard together as a Team in order to get winning results. Otherwise MANCHESTER UNITED played good attacking football against Chelsea which every supporter is craving to see on a consistency basis. 👌🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👹👹👹👿👿 4life 💯❤️✅

I don't really understand what is wrong with Rashford this was the time where he should be raining down goals, but instead he is warming bench for the wrong reason. honestly, Martial has given up on him self he doesn't see himself playing for Man United

Honestly, I still hope Rashford regains his form. garnacho is exciting but very raw with decision making and execution. tends to waste alot of clear cut opportunities in games.
Excellent assessment. Garnacho is talented but has poor decision making. Look at the assist he gave... it was the awareness of Regulion that made it possible for him to get the ball in space. Shaw was in such a position a couple of times and even Regulion once or twice when he came on but Garnacho mostly want to dribble and shot once he gets the ball even when his team mates is in a better position. I feel for Højlund because he hardly gets supply from wingers.

If Shaw thinks this way than what's the harm, either perform or be ready to be banned from team

To be honest Evra is right and Luke Shaw shouldn't have backed out because it is the truth. Luke don't be a coward but I don't blame you are due to speculation of Crisis going on behind the scene. If that's the case, then that's a good judgement.
Some of you just talk without thinking. Whether or not Shaw agrees with Evra, it's unethical for him to make that known to the public... not that you'd understand anything about work ethics.

Both players should understand that they playing for MU and should accept criticisms at anytime when they underperform.

Mate, Rashford has been in the first team for 8 years now but his attitude always poor. And he only had 2 or 3 good seasons. Utd should be ruthless by cashing in on him now
Shut up if you don't know what to say. Loo at Lukaku, Aubameyang, Torres, or any other striker that has lost form. Then you'll know that strikers too are human beings they have up side downs. If you don't know that you're not a football fan go to American football [ko]

Ever since Rashford signed that new contract in summer he is not himself in the pitch. Maybe the salary is now big to manage.
