Sergio Aguero was Manchester City's hero once again as the club's leading goalscorer came off the bench to score the only goal in their victory over Sheffield United.
Match Report
Goalkeeper Henderson's stellar showing was highlighted by a superb stop from Gabriel Jesus' first-half penalty, with Raheem Sterling also finding the former Manchester United man in inspired form.
It needed the introduction of Aguero, who surpassed 250 goals for City in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last time out, to get the job done for Pep Guardiola's side, with Kevin De Bruyne once again supplying the ammunition.
Further comfort for the visitors came in seeing the return of Aymeric Laporte to the starting line-up for the first time since August following a knee injury, his presence contributing to a clean sheet that represents somewhat of a rarity for City these days.

Match Events
13' Yellow Card! Besic booked
He flies straight in on Laporte from nowhere and catches his standing leg as the defender plays the ball on the edge of his own box. Laporte looks in pain straight away, but is back on his feet now.
19' CLOSE! Sterling's shot stopped by Dean Henderson
Sterling looks right to Mahrez who returns the favour with a pinpoint low pass inside past three defenders, and the England man's effort, bound for the corner, is kept out by a wonderful fingertip save from Henderson.
25' CHANCE! Otamendi's bicycle kick stopped by Dean Henderson
Man City look certain to score with bodies flooding into the Sheff Utd box, and an unlikely face, that of Otamendi, connecting perfectly with a scissor kick from a right-wing cross, and forcing another smart save from Henderson with his legs.
36' Penalty Missed! (Jesus)
Mahrez turns inside of Stevens' slide, gets past Egan and it's Basham who runs straight into him and brings him down. It doesn't need a VAR review. Jesus goes to the goalkeeper's right, but he keeps it out! Henderson, the Man Utd loanee has kept out the Man City penalty!
59' Rodri's header wide out
Another corner for City - their eighth of the game now - and it's De Bruyne once more with the ball, but Rodri heads wide from the near post. It's not far off finding the bottom corner!
61' Jesus' header stopped by Dean Henderson
City refusing to take their foot off the gas and Jesus gets in behind and onto Rodri's pass, but there isn't enough pace for the ball and it's a simple save for Henderson from Jesus' header!
62' Mousset's back-heel flick stopped by Ederson
Wonderful stuff from Sheffield United - McBurnie with a neat pass into Basham inside the area, but his shot is saved. Only as far as Mousset from a few yards out and he seems caught between trying to catch out Ederson with a backheel and setting up Fleck - in the end he does neither and the ball returns to Ederson's grateful hands with Fleck's hands on his head.
73' GOAL! Sheffield United 0-1 Man City (Aguero)
City break quickly from McBurnie's miss up the other end and Aguero is in the right place at the right time for a tap-in from inside the six-yard box!

Aguero and KDB fantastic as usual. Jesus honestly looks more like a winger. His work rate and his tendency to be involved in the buildup rather than the scoring show this. Aguero, Gundogab and KDB should take the penalties. So good to have Laporte back 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Raheem Sterling performance is flopping day by day these days. He need to lift up his performance, he wasted too much chances and looses 50-50 balls. Jesus was in rush to take the penalty. In such games you don’t need to waste such golden opportunities, city won, but Sheffield Fought hard to make the game tougher for Man City. Kudos to the king of Assists (KDB) and Mr goal scoring machine (Aguero) we nearly drop point again today. Cheer up guys. Let’s do better in the next games. ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
