Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the only two figures to go public with their interest in completing a takeover at Manchester United before Wednesday’s deadline
Manchester United have been put up for sale by current owners, the Glazer family, which could see a new era begin at Old Trafford. The Glazer family are said to have set a £6billion valuation of the club they bought for £750million back in 2005.
Only two bidders have gone public with their intention to pursue a deal to takeover United ahead of Wednesday's deadline. Qatari bidder Sheikh Jassim and INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe are expected to both submit second bids before the 9:00pm deadline.
Both parties held a meeting with United officials last week ahead of finalising renewed or initial offers. This could see United further cement their place as one of the most financially powerful clubs in the world - which may be bad news for Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Blues have recently undergone a takeover themselves with Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital consortium completing a £4billion takeover at Stamford Bridge last year. Chelsea have since spent over £600million on new signings in the past two transfer windows, whilst Graham Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel as manager.
Arsenal are currently owned by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment after Stan Kroenke became a shareholder in the club back in 2007, before being appointed to the Board of Directors the following year. KSE became a majority shareholder in the club in 2011 before acquiring 100% ownership in 2018.
Tottenham are owned by ENIC Group following their purchase of the club back in 2001. The man behind ENIC and Tottenham is Bahamas-based billionaire Joe Lewis, with Daniel Levy acting as the face of the operation at Spurs.
So, with United now at the centre of a potential takeover in the near future, how does Sheikh Jassim's vast wealth compare to the three London clubs and their Premier League rivals? football.london takes a look.
Spurs' ownership have an estimated net worth of £4.28billion, whilst Stan Kroenke at the Emirates Stadium has an estimated net worth of over double that figure, valued at £8.8billion. Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital group have an estimated net worth of £13billion, highlighting Chelsea's dominance in terms of financial power over Arsenal and Tottenham.
Manchester City owners, Abu Dhabi United Group, have an estimated net worth of £23.2billion - which would be below that of Sheikh Jassim. The Qatari bidder has an estimated net worth of a whopping £275billion, yet this would still not be more than Newcastle United's new owners.
The Magpies were taken over by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund in 2021. They have an estimated net worth of £472billion, just shy of double the worth of Sheikh Jassim.
It's clear that all three London clubs would be significantly weaker, financially, compared to United if Sheikh Jassim is successful with bid to takeover at Old Trafford. United are already able to compete at the top end of the transfer market but the investment would cement their place as one of the elite clubs in the world, whilst allowing them to develop their facilities and improve ahead of their rivals.

I don't see why that take over would be another to Arsenal because is not the money that do it it's the well fitted players that you have and it's not every good player you buy fits your system

if they pay the £6bn which we all agree with, that is the worth of the club. How much will they set aside to develop the facilities?

Don't blame the glazers for their price tag united is the biggest club for decades now so selling a club like united and ur most priced asset can only demand a crazy price..i will love Sir jim to buy united but he is old and can't handle the pressure in united due to age which gives room to the young sheikh who is very young and eager to upgrade united back to standards

If there are fans who don't care about city's money is utd fans. Utd are money maker club unlike city who depend on owners pocket. Our problem is poor management by Glazers who use utd to get themselves rich. With or without oil money, Utd will be rich

If chelsea was bought 4b and chelsea were not the owner of their pitch then United is worth around 6b.
