Mexican media outlet Latinus reported on the shooting incident at a community sports field in Mexico.

According to reports, a community event and a football match were underway at the Emiliano Zapata Sports Complex when a group of armed individuals stormed in and opened indiscriminate fire on the crowd.

It is understood that at least eight men, arriving in two SUVs, used high-powered weapons to carry out indiscriminate shooting against players and spectators shortly after 5 p.m.

The incident occurred near 6 p.m. in the Loma de Flores neighborhood, which borders Irapuato. Initially, municipal police and Red Cross medical personnel reported that at least seven people had died on the spot from gunshot wounds.

Later, local and state authorities confirmed that by 7 p.m., twelve people had been killed and four others were seriously injured. Federal authorities, however, reported fourteen fatalities. The exact motive behind this criminal act remains unclear, and a large number of law enforcement officers have been deployed in the surrounding area.

Earlier this Saturday, six people had already been killed, five of whom were from the Altamira Fourth Community. An organization calling itself β€œLa Marriza” is currently under investigation for these attacks.
