Liverpool insiders have moved to dismiss links with six possible summer targets - including Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins.
The Reds are under new management with Arne Slot coming in to replace Jurgen Klopp. Off the pitch Michael Edwards is back at Anfield in an even more senior role than he previously occupied. He has assembled a strong team of lieutenants who are poised to aid Liverpool's recruitment.
Richard Hughes has come in as the new sporting director and he will form part of a brain's trust that will look to ensure Liverpool are equipped to challenge next term. The rumour mill has begun with the summer transfer window poised to open but those on Merseyside have dismissed links with a host of players.
Watkins, now away with England, has just enjoyed the best season of his career thus far but the Liverpool Echo report that no move will be made. Another frontman in Florian Wirtz has just helped Bayer Leverkusen claim the Bundesliga title, but his hefty price tag has put clubs off.
Slot has a former player in Yankuba Minteh currently plying his trade at Newcastle. He has just spent the year on loan at Feyenoord but there is no plans for his ex-boss to try and ignite a reunion at Anfield. Atalanta's Ederson has just helped the Italian club claim the Europa League trophy with interest mounting.
There had been reports linking him with a £40million switch to Liverpool but, despite their want for a defensive midfielder, there is unlikely to be any move from the Reds.
A centre-half is poised to be on the club's radar, especially following the exit of Joel Matip when his contract expired. Goncalo Inacio at Sporting Lisbon has enjoyed an impressive rise and the 22-year-old has been tracked by a number of Premier League clubs, Liverpool among them.
His huge price tag has put clubs off but Alan Varela, who plays for Sporting's rivals Porto, is another man linked with Liverpool. They have dismissed those links as well though and are poised to look elsewhere for a central defender.
Edwards, during his time as the club's transfer guru, helped make the Reds the gold standard when it came to recruitment. He identified the right players in the right positions and didn't break the bank to land them. The likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were added - all providing value for money.
