Slot set to make transfer decisions on two Liverpool stars after US tour

Arne Slot will make decisions over two of Liverpool’s most promising youngsters once the Reds return from their US tour.

The Merseysiders have been preparing for the new season over in the States ahead of their campaign opener against Ipswich. Slot has been forced to work with a considerably younger squad than usual.

Those to play at Euro 2024 were granted a longer holiday than the rest of the squad and did not travel to the US. Among those to get a chance to impress was Reds youngster Tyler Morton. Bobby Clark was expected to be handed a space but was ruled out of the tour due to injury.

The pair have plenty of clubs tracking their progress ahead of potential summer moves and Slot is set to make a definitive call once Liverpool return to the UK.

According to Mail Online, new transfer chief Richard Hughes has fielded a number of enquiries for the duo. Red Bull Salzburg - who are now managed by ex-Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders - are interested in Clark.

They face competition for the 19-year-old with Norwich and Leeds also eyeing a potential move. Clark has however only just returned to training from a back injury and Slot wants to take a closer look at him before making a decision.

Another youngster that could potentially leave is midfielder Morton. The 19-year-old spent last season in the Championship with Hull City - Atalanta and RB Leipzig are among the clubs chasing him, among sides in England.

Morton has already shared his thoughts on how life has been under Slot so far. He said: "He loves Total Football. He’s come in and it’s a style a lot of players love. If you don’t love the style he plays, you shouldn’t be a footballer really!

"It’s Total Football and it’s every midfielder’s dream. You could see it today in the triangles that were played; he’s big on triangles and they were [working] today. I thought it was brilliant, I thought we dominated and against a very good Arsenal side it was a great display."

Morton added: “I love learning new styles. I loved going out on loan and learning different styles from different managers and picking up little things that I can take into my career.

“I’m definitely picking up things here. It’s a very tough pre-season, very intense, you’ve got to work hard for everything. I think that’s what we’re doing, that’s what I’m doing especially. I’ve definitely picked up stuff I can take on into the season.”
