Solskjaer blames Klopp for Manchester United's lack of penalties

Manchester United fans and coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feel that the Red Devils have been harshly treated by referees of later, saying that they should have had three penalties awarded for fouls on Cristiano Ronaldo in their last two fixtures, both against West Ham.

As he expressed his frustration, Solskjaer appeared to be pointing the blame for these decisions towards a Premier League rival.

"We just have to hope we get what we deserve. We should have had three pens in the last two games. There was a certain manager last year who was starting to worry about us getting penalties and after that it seems like the decisions are more difficult to give," Solskjaer said in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Aston Villa on Saturday.

"Surely, I've seen a big, big difference since then on. But we just have to leave it up to the refs and hope that they will make the right calls very soon."

That is believed to have been referring to Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, who spoke out in January about refereeing decisions following a Premier League defeat to Southampton.

"I hear now that Manchester United had more penalties in two years than I had in five-and-a-half years, I've no idea if that's my fault, or how that can happen," the German said at the time.

In 2020/21, Manchester United were awarded 11 penalties, the second highest total in the competition and only one behind leaders Leicester City.
