Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly identified four youngsters he wants to sign this summer as the Norwegian bids to wrap up his transfer business nice and early.
Solskjaer wants to have his squad finalised for July 1 as he plots an upturn in the Red Devils' fortunes and an assault on the top four next term.
Swansea's Daniel James, 21, is a well-known target with personal terms rumoured to have already been agreed.
And Newcastle's Sean Longstaff, 21, Norwich centre-half Ben Godfrey, 18, and Stoke's Nathan Collins, 18, are also on the baby-faced assassin's wishlist, report The Sun.
James has starred for Swansea this term and has broken into the full Wales squad.
There is a long-standing interest from Leeds with Newcastle and Everton also linked, but United are set to blow their rivals out of the water and land the flier.
Longstaff made 11 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions this season before a knee ligament injury cut short his campaign in March and has been tipped for a big future.
Godfrey played 31 of Norwich's 46 Championship matches as the Canaries won the title while Stoke defender Collins featured three times for the Potters.
“We’re going to sit down and go through all the plans," Solskjaer said of his summer business. “And we’ll be ready when 1 July comes. There will be no excuses.
“You never get a break from football. You always think about it.
“Even back home in Norway, I’m watching games analysing what went wrong, what went well.”

Sean Longstaff is a good player but he's not United quality yet United have plenty of decent players, they need superstars and World class players to get them back to the top. Can't see this happening...

Excited for Daniel James' coming. Two footed, versatile, fast , young, British. Love a signing from the lower leagues, can’t remember the last one we had (Powell?).

If the rumours regarding this and Man United's other transfer targets are true, I actually like their strategy for this summer. The squad is an unbalanced mess and Sanchez has destroyed their wage structure so targeting younger, cheaper players with potential makes sense. They get to develop them and build a team over the next couple of years while gradually letting go of the deadwood in the squad already. And even if it doesn't work out to the level the club would want, at least they will have a much better situation to build with compared to what they have now.
