Son Heung-min set for Spurs reunion with star he had 'beautiful' bust-up with

Tottenham star Son Heung-min has already confirmed his exit from the North London club ahead of the new season with all the signs pointing to just one future destination for the forward

Son Heung-min is set to be reunited with Hugo Lloris nearly five years after the pair had a furious dressing room bust-up. The South Korean forward has announced that he will be leaving Spurs this summer after nearly a decade.

He shared his decision in an emotional press conference in South Korea on Saturday. While he refused to give any information about his next club, it is expected that Son will finalise a move to MLS side LAFC.

And once a move is formalised, he will be reunited with a familiar face - former Spurs teammate Hugo Lloris. The pair were teammates for over eight years before the French goalkeeper completed a move to the United States.

Between them, the pair made 901 appearances for Spurs, twice going close to winning the Premier League together. And while the pair enjoyed plenty of success, they did not always see eye-to-eye.

The pair had to be physically separated in 2020 after coming to verbal blows at half-time of a 1-0 win against West Ham - an altercation that continued in the dressing room. Speaking at the time, ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said: "It's beautiful.

"It's a consequence, probably, of our meetings. If you want to blame somebody for that, it's me. I was critical of my boys because they are not in my opinion critical enough with themselves, I asked them to demand more from others, I asked them to put their colleagues under the pressure of the team spirit you have to give.

"It was a situation where an amazing kid, who everybody loves, Sonny, the captain [Lloris] thought he had to do more for the team and give a different effort.

"There were a couple of bad words, but I think it was something very important for the team to grow up, for that to happen you need to demand more of each other and be strong personalities. At half-time, I said when I saw the reaction I had no doubts they would stick together until the end."

Asked during his press conference where he would be going, Son refused to name a team, but did suggest that next summer’s World Cup would be taken into account. He said: "For now it's to focus on tomorrow's match.

“I would not give many comments on the next team. Obviously I would like to focus on tomorrow's match and the future and the next team will be decided afterwards.

“In choosing the next team, the World Cup will definitely be one of the key points that I will consider. It might be my last World Cup so I need my new environment to give all that I've got for my football career. As well as the World Cup, I will also need to find a team that will make me happy while playing football."
