Match reports
South Korea dumped Germany out of the World Cup thanks to a 2-0 win in Kazan on Wednesday, both goals netted in stoppage time.
Holders Germany sensationally crashed out of the first round of the World Cup for the first time since 1938 after losing 2-0 to South Korea, with VAR used to award two injury-time goals.
Joachim Low's side went into the game needing to match or better Sweden's result against Mexico, but they failed to break down Korea's dogged resistance and were undone at the last, while the Scandinavians romped to a 3-0 victory.
If World Cup-winning head coach Low thought his problems were behind him after a superb second half in Germany's 2-1 win over Sweden in their second Group F game, he was wrong, and the inclusion of Mesut Ozil in the front four did little to inspire his turgid team.
Korea, with nothing to play for but pride, gave everything they had in hot conditions in Kazan and got their reward in stoppage time when Kim Young-gwon struck from close range and had an offside decision overturned by VAR before Son Heung-min raced clear of the German defence and rolled the ball into an empty net.
Whether Germany's failure spells the end of Low's glorious era in charge of the national team remains to be seen, but he will certainly face questions as to why his side were so desperately lacking in cohesion and urgency when the stakes were so high.
96' GOAL! Korea Republic 2-0 Germany (Son Heung-Min)

Last time Germany came out on the group stages of the world cup in 1938, we know what happened few weeks later 😂😂😂. Today in 2018 they’re out again at group stage level. Poland better start asking for forgiveness even tho they did nothing

I'm not even mad Germany got eliminated. I don't think I have ever seen a more uninspired Germany team ever. They played with no fire, no passion, no urgency, as if every match were nothing but a training match. They deserve to get knocked out. I rather see other teams on the WC than a big name with no game.

Germany never had a player what is strong up front. .. I think Wagner and sane would have brought something totally different in their came but they ain't there. And in this match, they fought for it but not as hard as they needed it.... and this is to show others what it means when Argentina scored ending mins goal and the spirit. Generally I love this World Cup, of its difficulty right from group stage!

The biggest mistake Germany made was opting out Leroy Sane in the squad. Time has changed. The so called weaker teams had players playing in European top league. So the standard and the gap with weaker teams and the so called stronger teams has close up.

Yes! Dream come true! Germany is "Die" as their motto Die Mannschaft says. yet another World Cup winner bites the dust the very World Cup after the won it. my happiness is much. Germany is out. the ref tried many times to help Germany with many freekicks, etc. but Korea Republic wins! 2-0 is a respectable scoreline against reigning champs Germany. congrats to Korea, thank you for this elimination

That's an overconfident Germany side I guess, it goes to show you every opponents very lightly, 'cause every team can beat anyone, like what happened them against Mexico, they're make chances, but not capitalized it, now Germany had an unwanted record of the first to be eliminate in group in their history, which I know Brazil, Belgium, France, Spain, Argentina, would love to see going out the world cup so early, more than embarressment to be honest!
