Spain's Ramos returns to Real Madrid with groin problem

The central defender will play no part in Spain's friendly with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Sunday, and returns to his club to recover from the issue.

Spain captain Sergio Ramos will miss his country's weekend friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina with a groin problem, and is to return to Real Madrid.

Ramos plays through pain in Croatia defeat

Ramos was carrying the complaint when he joined up with the Spain squad for international week but, with qualification for the Nations League finals up for grabs in Thursday's clash with Croatia, he opted to play through the pain in Zagreb, where his goal from the penalty spot couldn't prevent La Roja from going down to a 3-2 defeat.

The reverse means the Spaniards now need England and Croatia to draw in Sunday's final Nations League Group A4 fixture if they are to progress to the last four.

After speaking to Spain head coach Luis Enrique following the loss, Ramos is to join back up with his club for treatment on the injury, which is the latest to affect the LaLiga giants' backline.

Nacho and Reguilón ruled out by injuries suffered in Vigo

Jesús Vallejo, Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal and Marcelo have just returned to training after spells out - with all four expected to be available to Madrid coach Santiago Solari after the interntional break - while Nacho and Sergio Reguilón are to miss two months and two weeks, respectively, after suffering injuries at Celta Vigo on Sunday.
