Barcelona and Spotify unite once again in one of their most eagerly awaited collaborations. This seventh logo change on Barça’s jersey carries the name Play, the new Ed Sheeran album.

The British singer becomes the first male pop solo artist featured on the club’s shirt, following Travis Scott, Coldplay, Karol G, The Rolling Stones, Rosalía and Drake. His emblem will debut on October 19 with the women’s team against Granada, and one week later in El Clásico versus Real Madrid. With over 92 million monthly listeners and 14 tracks in Spotify’s Billions Club, Sheeran called the launch “one of those moments I can hardly believe.” “I’ve loved football all my life, so seeing my music on Barça’s jersey means a lot to me,” he said.

Robert Lewandowski revealed, “Ed Sheeran’s songs have been part of our dressing-room playlist for a long time,” and emphasized how special it will be to wear his logo in El Clásico. Barcelona’s chief executive, Manel del Río, noted that “each logo change has become an iconic moment of the season,” while Spotify VP Marc Hazan celebrated that “a true football fan like Ed is living such a big moment.”

To mark the release, the club is issuing limited-edition shirts; pre-orders via the club’s website will include some signed by Sheeran and the players. Moreover, the Play jersey enters the gaming world on October 23 via eFootball™ from KONAMI.
