Spurs 1-1 Arsenal: Auba misses pen as Kane becomes North London Derby top scorer

  /  R47

Controversial decisions see both Tottenham and Arsenal awarded a penalty and while Harry Kane scores and becomes all-time North London Derby top goalscorer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang misses the target and the chance to win it for Gunners.

Match Events

16' GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 Arsenal (Ramsey)

Arsenal take the lead in the North London derby, and it is Ramsey - the man who loves playing at this ground - who opens the scoring.

Spurs commit too many bodies forward and are caught out on the counter. Lacazette releases Ramsey and the Juventus-bound midfielder keeps his cool by holding off Wanyama, rounding Lloris and rolling the ball over the line.

24' OFFSIDE! Kane's goal disallowed

Xhaka pulls back on Eriksen and a free-kick is awarded to Tottenham. Trippier floats the ball into the perfect zone to be attacked, and attack it Kane does.

The striker's header is powerful and accurate, finding the far corner of the net, but he is marginally offside.

74' Penalty Goal! Tottenham 1-1 Arsenal (Kane)

Kane gets between Koscielny and Mustafi when trying to meet a free-kick floated into the box. Mustafi makes contact with the Spurs striker and the referee Anthony Taylor points to the penalty spot. There are suggestions Kane was offside, though...

Kane sends the ball the opposite way to Leno and Tottenham are back on level terms. We are all set for a truly massive final 15 minutes at Wembley!

88' Penalty saved! Aubameyang shot stopped by Lloris

Aubameyang gets on the end of Mkhitaryan's pass and appears to be clipped by Sanchez in the box. Like the Tottenham penalty decision, there is some real uncertainty over whether it should have been awarded.

He steps up and is thwarted by Lloris. It is a poor penalty, in truth, hit at the pefrect height for Lloris to push to safety. Iwobi plays the rebound back into the middle but Vertonghen blocks Aubameyang's shot from three yards.

90+5' RED CARD! Torreira is sent off!

Torreira follows through on Rose, catching his opponent on the shin, to earn hismelf a late red card.

Match Report

Hugo Lloris kept out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's stoppage-time penalty as Tottenham rescued a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in a dramatic north London derby on Saturday.

The Gunners had led through Aaron Ramsey's early goal and may have felt aggrieved to have been pegged back 16 minutes from the end via Harry Kane's penalty, the England forward becoming the all-time leading scorer in Premier League matches between these two sides.

Kane appeared to be offside from Christian Eriksen's free-kick before he was bundled over by Shkodran Mustafi, but the Gunners had a golden chance to restore their advantage in the first minute of time added on after Aubameyang went down easily under contact from Davinson Sanchez.

Yet Lloris, who was involved in a bizarre Kieran Trippier own goal in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at Chelsea, kept out Aubameyang's weak effort low to his right before Jan Vertonghen denied the Gabon striker right on the line as Arsenal tried to capitalise on the rebound.

A disappointing conclusion for the visitors was made worse when Lucas Torreira received a straight red card for a high challenge on Danny Rose, as Spurs were able to salvage a point after back-to-back losses over the past week.
