Eric Bailly sustained yet another injury as Angel Gomes ensured Manchester United defeated Tottenham 2-1 on Thursday.

Match Reports

Angel Gomes scored the late winner as Manchester United beat Tottenham 2-1 in the International Champions Cup on Thursday, though the Red Devils will rue another injury suffered by Eric Bailly.

United generally looked the better side across the 90 minutes and 18-year-old Gomes ensured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men made it two wins from as many matches in the ICC with a lovely goal towards the end.

Martial's pace worried Spurs throughout the first half and, after hitting the post early on, he converted in the 21st minute to leave Paolo Gazzaniga questioning himself.

A raft of substitutions at the interval unsurprisingly upset the flow of the game, though Spurs were able to make an improvement and they restored parity through Lucas Moura's deflected effort just past the hour, with United losing Bailly to an apparent knee injury shortly before.

Gomes secured the points for United after a clever exchange with Juan Mata 10 minutes from time, continuing the side's encouraging pre-season form.

Match Events

4' OFF THE POST! Martial nearly scores

So close to an early opener for United! Martial collects the ball from James inside the box and tries to go across Gazzaniga. The Spurs keeper cannot get anything to the shot but it hits the inside of the post and runs to safety.

10' CLOSE! De Gea denies Alli’s effort

Parrott plays in Alli and the English midfielder has time to set himself for the shot. De Gea gets something to it down low, though, and Tottenham's best chance of the match so far goes begging. That was good goalkeeping from De Gea.

21' GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd (Martial)

Having hit the post early in the match, Martial this time finds a way through on goal to give United the lead. Pereira slots the ball down the right and Martial, having remained onside, fires a first-time effort past Gazzaniga at the Tottenham keeper's near post.

54' Injured! Bailly is subbed off

Bailly's match comes to an early end as he is stretchered off the field. Tuanzebe is brought on in his place. What a huge blow that is for Solskjaer!

65' GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 Man Utd (Lucas)

Lucas gets Spurs back on level terms with a heavily deflected shot that trickles past Romero. The Brazilian's shot from 19 yards hits Shaw and leaves wrong-footed Romero with little chance of keeping it out.

80' GOAL! Tottenham 1-2 Man Utd (Gomes)

United lead again with 10 minutes to go in Shanghai thanks to a fine goal from Gomes. The youngster picks up the ball towards the left, plays a quick one-two with Mata and somehow squeezes the ball past Gazzaniga from a tight angle. It has not been the Spurs keeper's finest hour!
