Spurs 'will ask Juventus for cut-price Kulusevski deal' instead of £24.9m clause

Tottenham 'will ask Juventus for a discount on Dejan Kulusevski', rather than opt to trigger his £24.9m release clause.

The winger has been on loan with Spurs and the club have the option to make the deal permanent, but they feel they can secure him on a cut price.

Juventus are desperate for funds to come in, and it seems Daniel Levy sees an opportunity to squeeze the Italian club.

According to Calciomercato, the Premier League side want to discuss a reduced fixed fee and convert some of the sum into performance-related bonuses.

Juventus had been hoping that a number of clauses for players out on loan would be triggered this summer.

But Weston McKennie, Denis Zakaria and Arthur Melo's spells at Leeds, Chelsea and Liverpool respectively, did not go according to plan.

None of those Premier League clubs will be taking up the option, meaning the Italian side are set to miss out on around £120m.

They will also have to keep paying the wages of the players and have missed out on Champions League football, creating another financial shortfall.

Kulusevski shone in moments but struggled overall for form at Spurs this season.

He scored only two goals and provided eight assists in total across the campaign.

He recently admitted to not knowing where his future lies, saying: 'I don't know honestly…we will see.

'I'm just focused on the pitch, I tried to do as good as I can and now of course it's time to speak with the club.'

Tottenham remain manager-less as their search for a new boss continues following a dire season, in which they finished eighth.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has emerged as the new front-runner for the role and perhaps the Spurs hierarchy will wait to see what any new manager's plans are before deciding what to do with Kulusevski.
