Steven Gerrard is a candidate to take coaching position at Rangers

Celtic have eased to yet another domestic title this season, however, their fiercest rivals, Rangers, may well be about to embark on a sizable shakeup with Steven Gerrard a candidate to take the coaching position at the club.

With Graeme Murty's contract as the club's coach set to expire at the end of the season, the Glasgow club are putting plans in place to progress next term.

Gerrard is currently part of the academy setup at Liverpool after retiring from football in 2016, and he's seen as a serious option to take over at Ibrox.

Speculation has been rife since the former Liverpool midfielder was present for the Old Firm derby with Celtic in March, whilst Rangers chairman, Dave King, was in attendance at Anfield for Liverpool's Champions League semi final against Roma on Tuesday.

Rangers sit 10 points adrift of Celtic in the league table and there are only four matches left to play, although the mood around the club hasn't been positive of late.

Fans have protested, whilst club captain, Lee Wallace, and Kenny Miller were both suspended for a dressing room altercation with Murty.
