Plenty of statistical models have predicted Manchester City to win the Premier League, but one supercomputers has backed Arsenal to reign victorious
A supercomputer has issued a fresh prediction on the Premier League title race after West Ham dented Arsenal's hopes of lifting the prestigious trophy. The Gunners are now only four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the able – and the reigning champions have a game in hand too.
After Pep Guardiola's side stormed past Leicester City on Saturday, the north Londoners were held to a draw on Sunday. Arsenal launched out of the blocks at the London Stadium and quickly secured a two-goal lead, with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard.
But, Mikel Arteta's side quickly lost their foothold on the tie after Said Benrahma tucked away a penalty just before the break. The Hammers built upon their momentum and piled on the misery when Jarrod Bowen levelled proceedings.
After dropping two points in the title race, plenty of fans have already written off Arsenal's chances of getting their hands on some silverware. However, a supercomputer generated by LegalSportsbooks has tipped the Gunners to defend their place at the top of the table, winning the Premier League by a point.
The supercomputer has predicted that the north Londoners will finish first on 90 points, with City in at second on 89 points. Manchester United have been backed to secure third with 75 points, while Newcastle have been tipped to clinch the fourth and final Champions League qualification place.
The supercomputer claims that Tottenham and Brighton will take the Europa League spots in fifth and sixth, accruing 66 and 63 points respectively. Meanwhile Aston Villa will settle for seventh and play in the European Conference League next term.
Controversially, or not, Liverpool will apparently miss out on European football by just three points, followed by Fulham and Brentford in the top half of the table. The supercomputer has predicted that Chelsea will fail to surpass 50 points and remain in eleventh position.
Then, when asked about statistical models favouring Guardiola's side to lift the trophy, Arteta added: "When you asked them at the start of the season, it was like this. So nothing has changed."
