Talisca: Al-Nassr pushed me out because I scored too much—it got in the way

Brazilian forward Talisca, who previously played for Al-Nassr and now represents Fenerbahçe in Turkey, recently responded on social media to comments made by Al-Nassr president Abdullah Al-Majid.

Al-Majid had said: “Talisca was one of the players who caused division within the club. Some saw him as essential; others found his departure hard to accept. He’s a great player, but his issue was that he was often substituted.”

Reports indicate Al-Nassr had tried to offload Talisca as early as summer 2023, but he refused to leave—until finally departing in January 2025.

In his since-deleted post, Talisca wrote:

“The new structure at Al-Nassr became more about business, and I honestly no longer fit into that. The numbers are clear, and my connection with the club is part of its history. I am the 5th highest goalscorer in the history of Al-Nassr. I was the first to arrive in this new phase and went through the entire transition into the club's new era. Even so, they did not respect my history with the club or with the fans--they simply acted as if nothing was happening. For that reason, I consider it a lack of respect toward Al-Nassr supporters to make such statements without telling the truth. They pushed me out because I was scoring too many goals and was "getting in the way". They even forced me to ask to leave. Numbers don't lie, I scored 77 goals, 17 assists, 93(actually it's 94) direct goal contributions, win the Arab Cup.”

The post has since been removed from Talisca’s social media accounts, but fans quickly saved screenshots, preserving his full statement.
