Javier Tebas appeared before the media for the first time since the official suspension of the Villarreal-Barça match in Miami.
The LaLiga president, although expressing his displeasure in a tweet, explained that the match in the United States is not one of his goals. "I've said it publicly many times: the match in Miami is not even among LaLiga's top ten objectives," the president revealed.
Even so, Tebas acknowledged that he will continue to try in the coming years. "I've tried and we'll keep trying. This all stems from an issue between FIFA and Relevent in the United States. There must be an agreement because that's what the United States has asked FIFA to do. I don't consider myself a loser; there's still a long way to go," said the LaLiga president, who blames UEFA and Real Madrid for the match's suspension: "There are many circumstances. The process wasn't easy in 2018, and it's not easy now either. UEFA reluctantly said yes, and Real Madrid players are saying they're committing adultery... I hear Courtois, and it's just like José Ángel Sánchez. He says the same thing."
"LaLiga doesn't intervene in the collection."
The president also responded to Laporta, who recently said he would make money thanks to the Miami match. "Everyone understands it differently. The only compensation for Villarreal would have been the travel of its fans and the compensation of its season ticket holders, which we have calculated at between five and seven million euros. What Barcelona is referring to is sponsorship opportunities. Finding new ones and activating current ones. We don't even intervene in the fundraising. Relevent wouldn't pay the clubs anything to attend," Tebas explained.
The LaLiga president also gave his perspective on the players' protests last matchday and why the league decided to censor the images. "The editorial line is that everything that happens in the match has to be related to the match. When there's been an incident or a spontaneous incident, we never released the images. We've maintained that. We had to try not to let it be seen," Tebas concluded.

I'm a Barca fan but I'm happy for the cancellation of this Miami game. Why on earth a Spanish La Liga game be played in the U.S? The league is already broken 💔 and this Miami game would've break it even more. If Barcelona and Villarreal really want to play in the U.S, they should arrange a charity or friendly game. Simple.
