In almost everybody's lists, Marc-Andre ter Stegen is amongst the best goalkeepers in the world, as is expected to be the case for a player who looks at home in one of Europe's best teams.
This year, he is fighting for the Zamora trophy in the league and has conceded the fewest goals in the Champions League this season with just three.
The 26-year-old knows that what lies ahead between now and the end of the season will be key and he wants a second Champions League semi-final, having beaten Bayern Munich in his first.
Tuesday night sees him return to the Stadio Olimpico to try and gain that place, but it is also the stadium where he was humiliated by Roma's Alessandro Florenzi.
In autumn 2015, in the first game of the group stages, Luis Suarez gave Barcelona the lead but Florenzi struck from his own half on the touchline of the right flank to lob the ball over the German shot-stopper and into the net.
Without the credibility he has today, it was a nightmare moment for the youngster who was then trying to persuade Luis Enrique that he should be starting ahead of Claudio Bravo.
"Those goals happen rarely, but it's true that it made me stronger," he said of the incident on Monday.
"I'm also more careful of shots from the middle of the pitch."
Whilst he wouldn't admit that the goal changed him, he did confess that he took the criticism on board and has improved as a result.

you are childish. neur is god😂😂😂 joke of the whole year.
Childish? How is an opinion childish? You call me stupid and then turn around and call me childish. You aren't making any sense. Stegen is certainly a really good goalie but to say he is the best is a very big stretch, Manuel Neuer is the best keeper in the World and he's constantly proven why that is. Don't get me wrong, I love that we have 3 amazing keepers for our country but Neuer is and will always be our countries number 1 between that post. Stegen is a really really good keeper but again he is not the best in the world, this is his first good season and everyone is saying he's the best, while in the other hand Neuer has repeatedly shown season after season why he is the best and will continue to be the best in the world. If he has a really good season like he is having now then he will be what is what Ronaldo is to Messi. This means Stegen could have the potential to push Neuer to be even greater than he currently is right now. I think the most improved keeper this season is Ulrich and he will soon take over the throne of Germany in the future. Being the best means you can replicate hat you've been doing season after season and again Neuer has shown that, he even showed it in the World Cup and he's going to show it again in Russia when Germany defend the cup. It is very clear that you haven't been watching Stegen over the past 8 years like I have. I first saw him in 2009 when he started playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach II and I followed him as he was promoted to the senior team he was alright but he quickly became overshadowed by all the other top keepers. When he moved to Barcelona his career took off because they decided to give him a chance (which I'm glad they did) now Germany have 2 amazing keepers The King and GOAT Manuel Neuer, a fantastic young keeper that would be Ter Stegen and a promising future king that is Ulrich. While Stegen is amazing he will never fill Neuer's shoes but he just might be able to make his own legacy as the German number 1 in the future and I hope he does for the sake of our national team.
