OFFICIAL: Stegen suffers a complete rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee, he'll be out for 7-8 months

The goalkeeper will undergo surgery this afternoon.

Tests carried out on the first team player Marc ter Stegen confirm that he has a complete rupture of the patella tendon in his right knee. On Monday afternoon he will undergo a surgical process and once complete a new update will be released.  

The Barça keeper had to leave the field in the Estadio de la Cerámica at the end of the first half. The injury came as the goalkeeper landed awkwardly after catching a Villarreal cross. The German international was visibly in pain and was quickly replaced by Iñaki Peña.
