The LaLiga Santander title race of handballs: Ten controversial moments

This LaLiga Santander season has had a number of handball controversies, with Eder Militao's being the latest.

Looking back at the 2020/21 season so far, MARCA have listed ten of the incidents that have shaped the season.

Matchday 35 - Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla - Eder Militao

Late in the game, a penalty was given that allowed Sevilla to go ahead after Militao handled in the area.

Andujar Oliver told Radio MARCA that he didn't think it should have been given.

Matchday 34 - Sevilla 0-1 Athletic Club - Mikel Balenziaga

In the second half with the scores level at 0-0, a Jesus Navas cross his Balenziaga's arm, but nothing was given neither on the pitch nor in the VAR room.

Matchday 32 - Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis - Juan Miranda

Los Blancos wanted a penalty late on that could have settled the game in their favour, though Andujar Oliver told Radio MARCA that a penalty should not have been given and the decision was correct.

Matchday 26 - Atletico Madrid 1-1 Real Madrid - Felipe

In the first half the ball struck Felipe's arm, but nothing was given. Again, Andujar Oliver said to Radio MARCA that the correct decision was made to not award a penalty.

Matchday 23 - Barcelona 1-0 Real Valladolid - Jordi Alba

Another penalty that wasn't given for a handball and, once more, Andujar Oliver agreed with the decision.

Matchday 21 - Cadiz 2-4 Atletico Madrid - Koke

This one was a penalty that was given for a handball after VAR was consulted and Andujar Oliver agreed.

Matchday 18 - Real Madrid 0-0 Athletic Club - Ander Capa

Early on, Real Madrid wanted a penalty for an involuntary handball. But the rules say it's not an offence if the arm is between the body and ground while a player is falling so nothing was given.

Matchday 14 - Eibar 1-3 Real Madrid - Sergio Ramos

This time Eibar wanted a penalty against Sergio Ramos in the 82nd minute and Andujar Oliver believed that one should have been awarded.

Matchday 13 - Barcelona 1-0 Levante - Samuel Umtiti

In the 93rd minute, the visitor wanted a penalty after the ball hit Umtiti's handball but it wasn't given.

Matchday 11 - Real Madrid 1-2 Alaves - Nacho

A penalty was given early on when the ball hit Nacho's outstretched arm and, in Andujar Oliver's words, "there was no discussion, the decision was right".
