Mariano Diaz enjoyed a dream debut on his return to Real Madrid after his spell in France with Lyon.
The Dominican-born striker appeared in the Champions League against Roma and scored a stunning goal from the edge of the box.
After the match, he was congratulated by all of his teammates, both on his debut and his strike against last season's European semi finalists.
Among those giving him a pat on the back, was Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez, who made the No. 7 shirt his own in the Spanish capital.
The ex Los Blancos star gave Mariano a big hug and congratulated him.
Now he is proudly taking on the responsibility that the famous shirt brings, having been worn by the likes of Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent times.

Congrats to him but it's really odd we're giving the number 7 to a player who was signed to be a backup. Unless by some miracle he becomes world class this could become the shortest stint of one of our players having a number 7 right?

I don't care if I'm downvoted to oblivion, but I'll say this, if Ronaldo says that Juve is like a family, most of us Madridistas take it as a jibe at us, if Ronaldo doesn't come for the award or congratulates Modric, some say he lacks respect; but is what Flo doing respectful? This just proves that Real Madrid is nothing like a family...just a purely business oriented club that does away with a person when they think they don't need him (no matter his legendary status) and then move on...just like that, it's petty and disrespectful. At least, that number should be rested for 1 year. We condemn Ronaldo of his 'direspectful' gestures, yet this club does the exact same thing. Anyway, good luck to Mariano...hope he shines
