Sebastian Coltescu, who was the fourth official in the Paris Saint-Germain vs Istanbul Basaksehir Champions League game that was postponed after he allegedly made a racist comment, has taken charge of a match again.
A whole 46 days after that incident in Paris, Coltescu returned to the pitch in the Romanian first division for a game between Sepsi and Astra Giurgiu, which the former won 4-1.
His absence wasn't because of any sanction. It was because he couldn't carry out the physical tests alongside his colleagues.
"I'm happy that Coltescu has returned," said Eugen Neagoe, the coach of Astra Giurgiu.
"I know he works hard to be at the required level.
"I'm happy, although I don't agree with the penalty he called against us.
"I don't think that what happened with him was normal."
The ongoing investigation
A UEFA investigation into what happened at the Parc des Pricnes is ongoing and the Romanian will be represented by Spanish lawyer Josep Vandellos.
It is alleged that Coltescu referred to the Turkish side's assistant Pierre Webo as "the black guy" and this sparked a furious reaction from those who overheard this, leading to the match being abandoned and then completed the following night.

The issue of racism goes a long way, bcz in another sense calling someone a black guy or a white guy when yu can't remember or don't know his name that's not racist if we can be honest. But bcz the whole world has been blown up about all these things we're sitting here thinking that's racist. But I myself alone still believe that has been blown up out of proportion

you said this because you have not been prosecuted and hunted because of you of skin colour before. hmmmm people were treated as criminals because they are black
Yes, but was this particular individual official responsible for the hostile treatment towards blacks? Don't make him responsible for the actions of other wrongdoers. We must deal with people aptly. Don't apportion blame on an individual who hasn't committed the crime but appears to be an easy vulnerable target because he's on live television.

This is such pleasing news. I was afraid that his career as a referee would be finished. But everyone deserves a second chance. One mistake shouldn't define an individual. Having said that, I don't think the referee made a mistake in the first place. There's nothing wrong in calling someone white or black as it's just a colour and we should all be proud of it and embrace our colour and our race.
