Life is a rollercoaster at the moment for Barcelona, and what looked like a grim situation just a few days ago now seems much more promising.
The 3-0 home victory over Levante came with a lot of positives. It wasn't just the manner in which they won the match, it was the fact that so many young players were involved and that they did so well.
This would suggest that the future is bright for Barcelona, and Ronald Koeman's unwavering trust in young players looks like it is paying dividends.
The Dutchman went into this match with several key players missing, and when he put his trust in the club's youth, it paid off.
With the exception of Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets, this was an extremely young Barcelona side: Oscar Mingueza (22), Ronald Araujo (22), Eric Garcia (20), Nico Gonzalez (19), Gavi (17), Yusuf Demir (18), Riqui Puig (22) and Ansu Fati (18).
Gavi and Ansu Fati the standouts
Everyone involved on Sunday performed well, but the two standouts from the afternoon were Gavi and Ansu Fati. If his past actions are anything to go by, Koeman can be expected to give these players further opportunities if they continue to impress.
The future does look promising at Barcelona with this abundance of young talent in their squad. The only doubt, however, is how the club will balance things while these players develop and look to reach their full potential.
Transitions at the Catalan club simply cannot go on for years and years, and if results don't come relatively quickly, it will be difficult to carry on with this risky strategy.
If those in power at Barcelona are willing to be patient, it could pay off massively, but whatever happens, trusting the youth will always be part of Koeman's legacy in Catalonia.
