The game is played on the pitch – Tchouameni makes Yamal jibe after Clasico win

Aurelien Tchouameni reminded Lamine Yamal that "the game is played on the pitch", after the Barcelona star's inflammatory comments about Real Madrid came back to haunt him during Sunday's Clasico.

Ahead of the season's first meeting between LaLiga's top two, Yamal described Madrid as "moaners and robbers" on a livestream of Gerard Pique's Kings League competition.

Madrid were then 2-1 victors at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham on target. Fermin Lopez scored for Barca, who had Pedri sent off in stoppage time following his second bookable offence.

Players from both teams were involved in a scuffle at full-time, with Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal and winger Vinicius Junior both appearing to taunt Yamal. 

But Tchouameni saw no issue with those scenes, saying: "I like that. At the end of the game, we saw a little bit between the players – it helped us to compete.

"It's fine, they're only words, there are no bad intentions. It made us a little bit more determined and helped us.

"If Lamine wants to talk, that's no problem. The game is played on the pitch, and we won. We're very happy with our game and we're going to look forward."

The France international then added: "We're very happy with the win today, we did what we had to do, we carried out the gameplan.

"We have to go on like this, it's only three points, we have other points to win and we have to step up."

Xabi Alonso became just the second of Madrid's last nine head coaches to win their first Clasico, after Zinedine Zidane oversaw an away win at Camp Nou in April 2016.

His team fired off 23 shots to Barca's 15 – the most shots by a team with a first-time manager in an El Clasico fixture in LaLiga since at least the 2003-04 campaign. 

He believes the experience of winning such a big match will serve his team well, saying: "The team was very motivated. We talked about it in the build-up. I'm very happy because the boys needed this feeling of winning a big game."

Alonso was also asked about Vinicius' reaction to being substituted, with the Brazilian storming down the tunnel after being replaced by Rodrygo in the 72nd minute.

He said: "I am left with many positive things from the match and from Vini. I don't want to lose focus on what's important. 

"These are things that we will talk about. Vini has contributed a lot and he is an important player. He deserved this victory. We will talk about the rest."
