The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has been asked by the judge investigating Gerard Pique for a crime against road safety, to clarify if he personally communicated to the player that he had lost points on his licence, as established by law.
Pique was denounced last Friday, August 31, by the Barcelona Urban Guard, who surprised him when driving through the Eixample district of the Catalan capital.
The judge is waiting to receive the official communication before deciding whether Pique should be punished with a fine, hours of community service or a prison term of up to six months.
The footballer was already charged in March 2015 with a fine of 10,500 euros for angrily, contemptuously and aggressively reprimanding two Guardia Urbana officers who had fined his brother for leaving his car badly parked.
In the sentence for that case, the head of the investigative court No. 5 of Barcelona criticised Pique for his "derogatory attitude and verbal and gestural aggressiveness."
