David Luiz was incorrectly sent off after giving away a penalty at Wolves - it should have been a yellow card.
The Arsenal defender made accidental contact with Willian Jose as he ran clear on goal and that caused the forward to fall. No one will dispute it is a foul and the award of a penalty was the right decision.
However, a law exists that protects teams from conceding a penalty and losing a player to a red card if a genuine attempt to play the ball is made.
Luiz was genuinely trying to get back on terms with Jose and it was an accidental foul. This type of incident is accepted as a penalty and yellow card. The officials got it wrong here.
The law was meant to see players sent off when conceding a penalty only if they had deliberately fouled an opponent to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity. Arsenal and Luiz should feel aggrieved that he was sent off.
But they can have no complaints after their goalkeeper Bernd Leno was red carded for a deliberate handball outside his area in the second half. He denies a clear goalscoring opportunity by using his hand to divert the ball and the decision was correct.

I want to suggest one thing for Arsenal owners and it's board. They should try to do things which I think some teams may be doing i.e. Man utd. Do good public relations with the referees with reasonable money for them if not arsenal will continue to suffer in the hands of the referees and VAR. Look at the game between Man utd and Southampton today direct red card was awarded in Man utd favour for simple and common foul. such opportunity can not be awarded to any other teams especially arsenal because no brown envelope involved. Arsenal owners take note

I gave up on VAR since this was allowed in football and no penalty was giving neither yellow card. VAR and referee changed the good face of football.

The wrong red card of David Luiz was the reason for the red card on Leno indirectly. now the contest is lost forever and the law is sorry for the error. please who bears the brunt. that singular error may also cause arsenal fc top four and loss in revenue, that error may deny arsenal victory in their next march as they will be without their first choice goalkeeper. four days ago, the referee did not issue red card to Bruno Fernandez of man United on a deliberate foul on Xhaka. what is racism and segregation. tell me of any wrong decesion that have gone on arsen wengers favour during his time with arsenal, is the same not coming back against arteta.
