Girona fans were angry with referee Juan Martinez Munuera during Sunday night's 4-1 loss to Real Madrid as he allowed Gareth Bale a second chance with a freekick.
The Welshman struck an effort towards goal in the 65th minute, one which was palmed off the line by Girona goalkeeper Bono.
However, the official had blown his whistle just before Bale's strike because he'd been advised by the VAR room that he should alter a yellow card.
Marc Muniesa was the player who should have been booked, but the referee had mistakenly shown a yellow card to Bernardo Espinosa instead.
Once this was corrected Bale was allowed to retake his freekick, although he hit the wall with his second effort.
