The secret WhatsApp message Barcelona president Laporta deleted about Dani Olmo

The Barcelona president sent a message opening the door for the RFEF to validate the registration of Olmo.

Joan Laporta has not yet given up on getting Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor back in the side.

The Blaugrana president caused a stir late at night by posting a bombshell message on his WhatsApp around 9 PM, only to delete it shortly afterward. However, the team at Jijantes managed to capture a screenshot of the message before its removal.

The message was lengthy and detailed, explaining that the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) had agreed with all the arguments presented by FC Barcelona to validate the registrations of two of its players.

Laporta’s secret message

The full text of the message reads as follows:

“The RFEF, after reviewing FC Barcelona’s arguments, concurs that Article 130.2 of the RFEF Regulations is not applicable to the cases of Olmo and Pau Víctor. This is because the departure of these players did not result from the club’s decision—as the article stipulates—but due to factors beyond the club’s control and contrary to its intentions. It is an undisputed fact that both the club and the players wish to remain part of the FC Barcelona squad for the entire season. This interpretation aligns with the evident purpose of the article, which aims to preserve the stability of player rosters.”

LaLiga give Barcelona the green light

Shortly after this was revealed, the news broke that LaLiga had confirmed that Barcelona had returned to the 1:1 ratio necessary to sign the players in question. While this has not been confirmed by the RFEF, things finally look likely to be ending in a positive manner for Olmo and Pau Víctor.

For now, Barcelona have the Spanish Super Cup to contend with. They will play against Athletic Club in Saudi Arabia (Wed Jan 8, 2pm ET), where they will fight to get to the final to take on either Real Madrid or Mallorca.
