Christmas is a time for gifts, and not only for Santa Claus, but also for coaches, sporting directors and club presidents from the world's biggest clubs who see it as one of the best times of year to look for bargains.
Many players see their contracts end in the summer and they will be available to negotiate with any club from January.
Luxury goalkeeper
The team starts strongly with two legendary goalkeepers, beginning with Paris Saint Germain's Gianluigi Buffon, although his one year deal signed in July has an option for another year extension.
Joining him is 36-year-old Petr Cech at Arsenal, who has come under challenge as first choice at Arsenal under Unai Emery and may look for a new challenge.
A Brazilian back-line
The defence is just as strong, particularly with Atletico Madrid captain Diego Godin who rejected the chance to leave in the summer but has not yet signed a new contract.
He could be joined on the move by Filipe Luis, who considered a move to PSG in the summer and he looks set to leave the club in 2019.
Another Brazilian on the move could be David Luiz, who is back to his best under Maurizio Sarri but, given that he is now over 30 years old, may want more than the one year extension that Chelsea offer as their club policy.
Another is Dani Alves, who has just overcome a serious injury and faces an uncertain few months. The bench is strong too, made up of the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Juanfran, Thomas Vermaelen and Vincent Kompany.
Ballplaying midfielders
Two Spaniards and a Frenchman will fill the central midfield, led by Adrien Rabiot who will leave life behind in Paris at 23 years old having told the club he won't stay. Barcelona are supposedly leading the race for his services.
Another big name in the market is Cesc Fabregas, who is not an important player for Sarri at Chelsea and could leave in the summer if not before.
In England, there have been rumours linking him to Atletico Madrid whilst Milan are also believed to be interested.
There is further uncertainty for Ander Herrera, whose future is up in the air following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.
On the bench, there are players like Aaron Ramsey, who, at just 27 years old is surprisingly being allowed to run down his Arsenal contract, Juan Mata, who says he is happy in Manchester, and Santi Cazorla who signed a one year deal as he returned from serious injury.
Other players to see their contracts run out include Daniele De Rossi, Ibai Gomez and Lassana Diarra.
Legendary wingers
Two of the game's most decorated wingers will be available for free as Bayern Munich's era comes to an end with 34-year-old Arjen Robben and 35-year-old Franck Ribery set to depart a decade later.
Robben may head back to his roots at PSV Eindhoven, while the Frenchman's future is more unclear.
As a figurehead in attack, there is Olivier Giroud, whilst other strikers like Mario Balotelli, Aritz Aduriz, Fernando Llorente and Daniel Sturridge are on the market.

Dani Alves wants to retire in Sevilla. Buffon is retiring finally. Rabiar is joining Barcelona, if Neymar doesn’t join.

The best deal I could see there is "Rabiot" and "Aaron Ramsey" coz of their potential and their Age... Why don't Arsenal and PSG go for a swap deal it would be great....!! 🤔😎

The superstar XI who will be available in 2019 FOR FREE... & how good are they? 😂😂😂 Me: Real Madrid we could use Godin he is a great CB plus defender and he is a legend of the game just imagine Godin and Sergio Ramos at the heart of Real Madrid defense that would be The great wall of Jericho 😂 and 😂 Buffon i love this man and I would love to see this man represents Real Madrid because Real Madrid tried to sign him but he was always loyal to his Club Juventus and Rabiot is going to FC Barcelona for £5m as for Dani Alves he said he wanted to retire I. his old club Sevilla and Good bye to another Legend Arje Robben we will miss you and he is retiring this year and as for rest of the players Good-luck!

The best deal in January is going to be that of rabiot, but still not sure if he is still joining Barca 🤔 .... Ramsey has been receiving offers from big European clubs like Bayern and PSG, he should join one of them , since he does not have a place under Emery. Giroud 😟is a great player, he deserves a place in sarri team instead of morata, morata needs to leave, he is just flooping, and has not made any improvement at all. PSG has one of the greatest goal keepers in the world ‘Buffon’ why will he be sold, maybe he should sign a contract for 18 months because he is ageing. Ribery and Robben are greats, it will be a shame if bayern will lose such legends like that. I wonder who will be sold for free and who will renew.

Robben retiring, he was an amazing player during his days, he could come out of anywhere anytime, with the ball on the flanks, he was just wonderful and sensationally fast. He had a complete career and I think he deserved to have won the ballon d'or in 2014. What a great player he was .Hats off for you.
