Barcelona have made Liverpool winger Luis Diaz their top target for next summer, having been considered by the Catalan giants last summer. In the end they opted to pursue first Nico Williams and then Dani Olmo, successfully in the latter case. However Diaz was the first choice of Director of Football Deco, and he is adamant about the Colombian’s value.
It has raised some eyebrows, given in theory the front three is the area of the team that has impressed most for Hansi Flick this season. Diaz would give Barcelona another option on the left wing, where Raphinha has been operating, seemingly duplicating resources.
According to Sport, Deco’s thinking is that Raphinha will move inside to play behind Robert Lewandowski, with Diaz to take his place on the left side. The Brazilian’s form in front of goal and getting into the box has made him come increasingly central, and at times this season, he has already been played inside in the number 10 position, both early on, and as Barcelona looked for goals late on in games. It is where Flick feels he is at his best.
Of course, that is the position that Barcelona are arguably most strong at, with Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez sharing the role this season. Olmo has struggled at times in his debut season, through injury and registration issues, while Lopez has arguably made the case for more minutes.
If Raphinha does move behind Lewandowski, then it would in theory leave their €55m signing on the bench just a year after arriving. There has been some suggestion that Manchester City could bid for him, but Olmo is believed to be focused on staying at Barcelona
There is still a long way to go before this becomes a reality. Diaz has been priced at around €85m, a figure that seems out of reach for Barcelona of late, and certainly requires them to sort out their salary limit issues. Liverpool manager Arne Slot also made it clear that he was not thinking about entertaining a move for Diaz either.

You guys are saying striker, striker but our main problem in the team now is defense don't forget that aroujo is not reliable,we need inogo Martinez backup and also left back and right back I strongly believe with those areas we are good

Diaz has 2 extra qualities that separates him from other candidates...1. he has experience that will be needed & wanted by Deco in dressing rooms...2. his wage is lower than other candidates (55k to Rashford's 350k)

don't mention Leao or nico, Diaz has all the experience we want. Guys mark my words, we won't regret signing Diaz he has been feeding Mo Salah with clear chances .

Buying an underperforming player for around 85M is just wrong in so many ways. Dani and Fermin have done well, yes Dani is injury prone but why put two players on the bench to accomodate a winger who didn't even perform that well. We need subs for lamine and Raphinha, bringing diaz and starting all the wingers in there who will be back up for them then. Is Diaz a player Deco wants or Flick ?

i think Dias is a good player but I will go for Gyokeres because our center forward is too weak. Lewa is old and fresh legs are needed

Interesting. With this, Raphinha can switch with Diaz and Yamal both allowing them to attack central while also allowing him to go wide, especially right as he can shoot well from there.

This is beat formation Barcelona can have next season, Ferran and Rashford to replace the whole 3 front line, while Olmo can go his injury lately is alarming Lopez to replace Ralph. Pedri Dejong Gavi Casado and Bernal will rotate in the midfield while we have the whole of Balde Martin Martinez Cubarsi Christiansen Araujo Kounde and Hector as defender we can add by buying just one defender but to promote from lamasia will be better those boys won champions league, the league and the Spanish cup

if that is the case then I think it would be best for Barca to sign, Rafael leao or Nico William. Rafael leao 25yrs and Nico William 22yrs will both cost less than Luiz Dias
will leao press up top? I don't think so and nico wages are too high.
