The unknown future of Rüdiger and Alaba

Both of their contracts expire in June 2026 and it seems unlikely that they will continue at Real Madrid, especially Alaba.

Antonio Rüdiger, 32, and David Alaba, 33, are out of contract with Real Madrid on June 30th of next year, 2026. The club is looking for center-backs for next season, and that means Rüdiger and Alaba's futures are not at the Bernabéu.

The one whose departure seems most likely is Alaba. The Austrian had an open door this summer to leave Real Madrid, as the club made it easy for him to leave if he wanted. Ultimately, Alaba decided to stay at Real Madrid and see out the remaining year of his contract. It doesn't appear that Real Madrid officials will make him an offer to renew his contract, so, barring any surprises, Alaba will leave Real Madrid in the summer.

Antonio Rüdiger, meanwhile, has received offers from Saudi Arabia, but has always prioritized staying at Real Madrid. This view hasn't changed, and he's even been willing to accept a contract renewal offer from the club. Those in charge and Xabi Alonso are delighted with him, but his injuries could ultimately force his departure, although the club has yet to make a firm decision on the German.

Whatever the case, what's clear is that Real Madrid will focus on strengthening its central defense for next season, and names like Upamecano and Konaté are already being mentioned. Both are expected to arrive at the Bernabéu on a free transfer.
