Thierry Henry admitted Arsenal were not good enough during their 1-0 defeat away at Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
Joshua Kimmich's header just after the hour mark was enough to send the German giants through to the semi-final via a 3-2 aggregate victory, leaving the Gunners still dreaming of a first ever Champions League title. Mikel Arteta's side were certainly more defensively sound than the first leg at the Emirates, but their attacking play let them down at the Allianz.
Arsenal had their fair share of the ball and played for large periods in and around Bayern's defensive third, but over the course of 95 minutes of football on the night created very little. Manuel Neuer had precious little to do between the sticks for the Bundesliga titans.
Arteta deployed the likes of Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka from the start before introducing both of Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard late on, but it still wasn't enough. Henry was blunt in his assessment of his old side's display in Munich.
The Frenchman was asked what this current Arsenal outfit are missing, to which he told CBS Sport: "Putting the ball in the back of the net but today, there wasn’t even a lot of chances to do that. I think the two goals [in the first leg] at home were soft. We all know if you make those mistakes in the Champions League you’re going to pay the price.
"Today wasn’t good enough I would say but there wasn’t much in the game. Both teams didn’t want to lose so they didn’t really go for it. There was a moment of bad decision, not only from Martinelli but [Takehiro] Tomiyasu also, because he did not cover his centre-back for the cross or close that line."
Henry continued, by making an admission regarding Arsenal's hopes of winning the Champions League this term. His answer highlighted a concerning trend spotted by the Gunners legend when Arteta's side play multiple times in a week.
“But you’ve asked me so many times, do I think Arsenal can win the Champions League? I say yes because I’m hoping and wishing," Henry conceded. "But if I take my Arsenal hat off, when we play three games a week, we struggle.
"I don’t think we’re equipped to play three games a week so maybe it can be a good thing for the Premier League."
The issue spotted by Henry won't be as much of an issue between now and the end of the campaign given the Gunners are now fighting on only one front. Six Premier League games still await Arsenal, including tricky trips away to both Tottenham and Manchester United.
As things stand, Arteta's side sit second in the table, two points adrift of league leaders and reigning champions Manchester City. Last Sunday's defeat by Aston Villa was a huge opportunity missed and swung momentum in the direction of Pep Guardiola's team.

our midfield isn't mobile except for Odegaard, look at Musiala,Arsenal don't have that,Smith Rowe or Vieira would have done better,Partey would give us control,Arteta is predictable,Tuchel mentioned Arsenal's weakness, but Arteta just set a line up that was expected by Tuchel

The current Arsenal team along with their coach Mikel Arteta is mediocre. Some player are being misplace and should have no place in the team Henry ia right about his criticism of them

Dude Henry doesn't deserves this kind of criticism. The team in 2006 would had trashed this Bayern Munich team our current team struggle against last night. Remember, the 2006 finals we had a red care handed out to Lehmann and the team still managed to outplay Barcelona.. I agree that Henry had a couple of chances missed but who does not miss goal.
He killed us with golden chances…With Red card you can win
