Cristiano Ronaldo added fuel to suggestions he could leave Al-Nassr after the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season, as he wrote on social media: "This chapter is over".
Ronaldo scored the opening goal in Al-Nassr's final fixture of 2024-25 against Al Fateh, who twice came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Stefano Pioli's team.
Al-Nassr finished third behind champions Al-Ittihad and runners-up Al-Hilal, missing out on qualification for the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Elite.
Ronaldo had already been linked with a transfer, and Al-Nassr's worst finish since he arrived in 2022-23 will do little to quieten that speculation.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently claimed Ronaldo had held talks with a number of teams involved in the revamped Club World Cup, which begins on June 14.
Ronaldo took to social media after Al-Nassr's defeat on Monday, saying in a cryptic post: "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."
Moroccan side Wydad AC and Brazilian giants Botafogo are two Club World Cup participants to have been linked with Ronaldo.
Ronaldo won the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for the second successive season with 25 goals, having netted 35 times to top the goalscoring charts last campaign.
Since making his debut for Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has scored more Saudi Pro League goals than any other player, with 74 in 77 matches.
That puts him 27 clear of his nearest competitor, with Aleksandar Mitrovic netting 47 times for Al-Hilal in that time.
Ronaldo's goals have come from a total expected goals (xG) tally of 67.07, averaging a goal every 90.62 minutes – the best ratio of any player in double figures in that span.

Congratulations to Al Nassr for being from the greatest destroyer of all time. Now, they will return back to winning titles...He is their problem, wherever he goes the team suffers...
What are you saying? Who's their problem and wherever he goes the team suffers? Kindly name them. At Manchester United, you people said Cristiano Ronaldo was their problem, he left the place and what had changed at Old Trafford? Where did Manchester United ended up on the league table. Look at the team that disgrace them at Old Trafford, were all those too problems set by Cristiano Ronaldo? Tottenham beat them to qualify for champions league, was that cause by Cristiano Ronaldo? Please if you hate the 🐐, don't give it a bad name.
