Thomas Muller puts his post-match interview on hold to listen to referee's FURIOUS rant

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller put his post-match interview on pause to overhear a furious referee venting about one of his former colleagues.

The German forward captained his side during their 3-1 home defeat against RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon, before conducting a typical interview after the game.

However, during it, the 33-year-old's attention was caught by the fuming official's rant in elsewhere in the media zone and, eventually, he paused to listen to it.

Deniz Aytekin, the referee for the match, could be heard launching a foulmouthed rant at former official - and now TV pundit - Manuel Gräfe.

It's understood that the referee had been reacting to a tweet from Gräfe that suggested he had a different interpretation to Aytekin over an incident in the game.

In a video that appeared on Twitter, Aytekin could be heard saying: 'In the stadium, no one talks about the ref. No one. And then Manuel Gräfe sits there in Berlin with his 180 kilos and is chatting such shit!'

It was at that point when Aytekin spotted Muller standing just a few metres away, before the Bayern forward said: 'We're listening intently.'

Aytekin apologised to Bild-TV on Sunday afternoon. 'It was completely over the top. I'm very angry with myself,' he said.

It was a day to forget for Muller and his Bayern team-mates, who were thrashed at home to RB Leipzig.

Konrad Laimer, Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai  were all on target for the visitors, after Serge Gnabry gave the hosts the lead in the first-half.

The result leaves the Bundesliga title race wide open as Bayern's lead at the top was cut to just one point, with Borussia Dortmund having a game in hand on the leaders.
