Todd Boehly's Chelsea cull continues

Todd Boehly has wasted little time in stamping his mark on Chelsea, with club doctor Paco Biosca the latest staff member to follow manager Thomas Tuchel out of the Stamford Bridge exit door.

Boehly succeeded Roman Abramovich in ownership of Chelsea in May, and duly sanctioned nearly €300 million spent in the summer transfer window, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly arriving at the club.

But Tuchel was sacked says after the window closed, to be replaced by Brighton's Graham Potter, and further alarm bells rang when Fofana - now the world's most expensive defender after his £75 million (€84m) arrival from Leicester - was sent to Boehly's native USA for his medical rather than staying in London with Biosca.

And the Spaniard has now been sacked, also following chairman Bruce Buck, transfer chief Marina Granovskaia, performance director Petr Cech, head scout Scott McLachlan and commercial director Damian Willoughby in leaving Chelsea in recent weeks.

'Will come as a shock'

"Just over two weeks since Tuchel's sacking, Biosca is understood to be leaving Chelsea, which will come as a shock to those players who have been at the club for some time and have worked with him for years," write the Telegraph.

"First-team doctor Dimitrios Kalogiannidis will take interim charge of Chelsea's medical department until a permanent replacement for Biosca is appointed. The club are not expected to make any official announcement at this stage."

Biosca had spent 11 years at Chelsea, and was there for both of the Blues Champions League triumphs, in 2012 and 2021.

The new Chelsea era is only just taking shape, with Potter's reign only a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League old.

Boehly had already this week slammed Granovskaia for missing out on Aurelien Tchouameni, the France midfielder who joined Real Madrid in a €100m deal instead.
