The former Barcelona defender was shown a straight red card at the start of the Nice-Angers match on Sunday.

Jean-Clair Todibo has been at the centre of one of the most bizarre moments of the weekend in France. The former Barcelona centre-back was sent off just nine seconds into the Nice-Angers match on Sunday. Angers found Sima in space before the forward was pushed by Todibo in the penalty area after five seconds. The referee had no hesitation and after just nine seconds the young defender received his matching orders.

Todibo joined Nice on a permanent deal in July 2021. The French club paid Barcelona €8.5 million for his services after he had spent half a season on loan with the Ligue 1 outfit. He had previously had another spell on loan at Benfica, but it never worked out and he eventually returned to Barcelona. The Catalan club had signed him in 2019, paying €1 million to Toulouse. Barcelona have kept 20% of any future sale of Todibo.
