You are only partly right here. The club does NOT have to be 100% sustainable financially, owners can pump private funds into clubs, and many of them they are doing so. So, Kroenke is surely partly to blame for the lack of investment but it is also true that player contracts, and wage structure has been run poorly by the club for some years which is taking its toll!

Club owners cannot spend their earned monies on their clubs. The club should be taken care of by the monies generated from the club. Players should be purchased into a club by the club's money. The Financial Fair Play by FIFA proscribe owners to spend on their teams with their own money. So let's understand this concept and leave the club owners alone. Let's rather blame the chief executives overseeing operations of the club. It does behove them to purchase players for the club
