Lucas Torreira would like to return to Italy, according to the Arsenal midfielder's agent.

The Uruguayan has been out of action since the beginning of March after suffering a broken ankle in the FA Cup clash with Portsmouth.

Originally ruled out for 10 weeks, the former Sampdoria man is working his way back to full fitness.

But his representatives have suggested that a return to action is important on two fronts, with the player keen to show Serie A clubs he is ready for next season.

Pablo Bentancur told Todo Mercado Web: 'He was a bit angry about some technical issues but later recovered.

'The injury came, fortunately less serious than expected. Today he is fully recovered, I think it will be an important man in the next market.

'I will have to talk to Arsenal. The player would like to return to Italy, but it must be admitted that in England they have treated him very well.'

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Torreira when the window opens once more this summer.

Arsenal beat the San Siro outfit to his signature last summer, but could be willing to strike a £35million deal, according to reports.
