Tottenham slipped up in the race for Champions League qualification as they succumbed to a 1-0 Premier League defeat to West Ham.
Match Report
Mauricio Pochettino's side relied on Christian Eriksen's 88th-minute stunner to secure the points against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday, and a sluggish display this time around was punished when Michail Antonio hammered home in the 67th minute - marking the first time Tottenham have conceded at their new home.
The hosts - who have a Champions League semi-final first-leg tie with Ajax next up on Tuesday - had their chances with Son Heung-min particularly wasteful and Vincent Janssen denied on the line late on, while Lukasz Fabianski was typically impressive in West Ham's goal.
Match Events
11' CHANCE! Son's shot saved
SON WITH A CHANCE! Lucas is able to take several touches in a crowded Hammers midfield before passing it to Alli, and the latter releases his team-mate with a great ball which ends with the winger’s low effort saved by Fabianski and cleared away!
27' CLOSE! Lucas' shot wide out
Lucas almost finds Eriksen ghosting between the Hammers’ centre-backs only for Diop to head the ball away from the lurking Spurs playmaker
58' PENALTY APPEAL! Big shout from Spurs
Davies makes a great run into the West Ham box only for the return pass towards him to be intercepted at the last moment! Masuaku then blocks Son’s path towards the ball and is felled only for Taylor to deny Spurs another favourable decision yet again! Replays do show that it is the correct decision though despite the fury of the home crowd.
67' GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 West Ham (Antonio)
WEST HAM TAKE THE LEAD!! Antonio breaks the deadlock to the delight of the away supporters after Rice plays in Arnautovic out wide, and the forward crosses it towards the six-yard area where Antonio catches Sanchez napping and lets fly with a fierce drive past Lloris! It’s 1-0 to the Hammers, and they’ve become the first ever visitors to score at Spurs’ new stadium!

WestHamUtd are the first away side to win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while they were also the first side to beat Arsenal at the Emirates, back in April 2007.

What, Tottenham lost to Hammers? This is unbelievable! The race for top 4 is filled with intrigues. While the due of Man City and Liverpool are praying for this kind of miracle slip between the 2 of them, the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd have been losing in turns. This is no good news for Tottenham ahead of their semi final game against Ajax who already have the advantage of enough time for preparations. Let's see how everything turns out. I'm beginning to foresee Ajax in CL final. Tottenham, no matter what will make the EPL top 4.
